On March 4th, Brittney Seville was diagnosed with Grade IV of a rare brain cancer known as an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumour.  She is currently in critical condition and fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit at Windsor Regional Hospital. Right now, Brittney and Kyle Flood need your support during Brittney's ongoing battle.

Brittney just celebrated her 25th birthday on February 1st. She is a selfless, adventurous, fun-loving woman who likes nothing more than being surrounded by family and friends. She lives in Maidstone with her loving boyfriend of five years, Kyle, and their fur-son, Leo. Brittney and Kyle moved in together in the summer of 2017 and began building a life together.

A year and a half ago, Brittney started having headaches that she struggled with daily. After implementing a number of lifestyle changes, nothing alleviated her headaches. She advocated for having a CT scan of her brain and a large mass was discovered.

In June, 2018, Brittney underwent a craniotomy to remove her tumour. She bounced back from surgery successfully and the doctors diagnosed her tumour as benign. She greatly improved over the next several months, was pain free, and started to get her life back on track.

On Valentine’s Day 2019, Kyle came home from work to find Brittney barely responsive on the floor of their bedroom. He rushed her to the hospital to discover that she had life-threatening hydrocephalus, a buildup of pressure in the skull. On February 15th, neurosurgeons successfully drilled a hole in her skull to alleviate the pressure but found that her tumour had returned and was the cause of the pressure.

Four days later, Brittney had her third brain surgery to remove the tumour again. After the surgery, complications arose and her health quickly deteriorated. She has since been fighting through a serious blood and brain infection, strokes, seizures, and now a diagnosis of Grade IV Brain Cancer.

Her brain has been through so much trauma that she is currently unable to move or breathe on her own but can communicate only with her eyes. Brittney is fighting courageously to improve her health so that she may confront her next opponent, cancer treatment.

After spending the past month in hospital, and most of the previous year recovering, Brittney has been unable to work. Kyle is a hockey referee and substitute teacher and has been scratching and clawing to make ends meet for the both of them. As Brittney’s health has deteriorated, Kyle has been unable to work most days as he is spending nearly all of his time in hospital by her side. Unfortunately, the bills have been continuing to add up and this family needs your support.

Your donation will go directly towards supporting Brittney and Kyle through this devastating time. Brittney’s road to recovery includes expensive cancer treatments, that will only add to their financial burden. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help them on this lengthy uphill battle.

Brittney and Kyle would like to thank the staff at Windsor Regional Hospital for the outstanding care Brittney continues to be receiving, especially the nurses in the ICU.

Thanks to the generosity and support from the gracious donors, Brittney’s closest loved ones have been able to remain right at Brittney’s bedside as she continues to recover from her latest brain surgery. The overwhelming amount of support this campaign has received could never have been anticipated, and for that, we are so grateful.

Since Brittney’s surgery last Monday, she has seen a few small steps towards recovering lost function. The pressure on her brain has been well controlled, but she is still battling a serious brain infection, and continues to remain in a state of paralysis where she can only communicate by raising her eyebrows. The healthcare team has provided various communication tools to help Brittney better convey her needs, but her body remains too exhausted from the surgeries and ongoing infection, to successfully use them. Unfortunately, recovery of brain function is a slow and complicated process, but all of her loved ones remaining at the bedside are optimistic that with time, and dedicated care, Britt will see a positive recovery.

At this point in Brittney’s recovery, it is important that she rest her brain and allow it time to recover from its recent battles. Please be sure to keep Brittney and her family in your thoughts and prayers, and don’t be shy to send your all of your positive vibes her way.

WOW! Team Brittney and all of Brittney’s loved ones are truly astounded by the outpouring of support shown over the past few days. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The amount of relief your generosity has provided is truly immeasurable.

Since her surgery on Monday, Brittney has been alert and responsive. The surgery was very successful in alleviating the pressure around her brain, and her symptoms are constantly being monitored for improvement.

While she hasn’t seen any increases in motor control, Brittney is still able to communicate with her eyes and eyebrows— and her eyes went wider than ever when she was told about the amount of support the community has been providing.

This morning's meeting with the infection specialist confirmed that while an infection remains in Brittney’s brain, it has finally cleared from her bloodstream!

Today, friends of Kyle and Brittney were able to provide the couple with some communication aids that are often useful for individuals in Brittney’s condition. Hopefully this will ease the communication barrier Brittney has been experiencing for the past few weeks.

Please keep Brittney in your thoughts, and send your positive vibes her way! She knows the community is rooting for her and she is continuing to fight.

“I don’t have the words to thank everyone right now. I am so overwhelmed by the support that we have received and grateful for the wonderful people in our lives that are here to help when we need it. ”

Brittney is now in recovery from her surgery earlier today, she is showing some responsiveness, and we are hopeful it will provide her some relief.
