It was diagnosed as Stage 4 Colon Cancer that had already spread to her liver with over 10 tumors in it.

She then went through 12 rounds of chemo locally, followed by 4 weeks, 6 days a week, of naturopathic oncology treatment at Port Moody Health Center, approximately 7 hour drive from where my parents live.

In February 2018 our family received some amazing news. The latest PET scan showed no active cancer. Unfortunately, our celebrations were short lived as in June we received mixed news as she was still cancer free in her liver but now there were small tumors showing up in a couple areas of her pelvis. She has once again started chemo and will hopefully be heading back to Port Moody for 4 alternating weeks of more naturopathic oncology treatments.

As this will be her second round of treatments and my parents have already exhausted their resources with the first set of treatments they are needing financial assistance for this round. These innovative treatments are evidence supported therapies approved by Health Canada but they are not covered by BC Medical Services and are quite expensive. As it is out of town, it isn't just the cost of the treatments themselves that they need help with but the cost of travel, logging etc.

My mother is only 56 year old. She has a positive attitude, strong faith and an overwhelming determination to do what ever it takes to survive but currently isn't strong enough to take care of herself so my brother, dad (who is self employed) and I will all be taking turns, taking time off work, traveling and staying with her so she can use all that inspiring strength she has to focus her energy on healing and beating this cancer, once and for all.

Without financial assistance my mother may not be able to get all the lifesaving treatments she needs. That is why my brother and I are doing this. My mom is the most amazing woman I know and I am who I am today because of her example and although it sounds cliché, it is still very true that if one day I can be even half the mother that she is to my brother and I, I would consider myself grateful.

The assistance requested are as follows

Treatments $7,800 x 4 = $31,200.00
Accommodations $ 650 x 4 = $ 2,600.00
Travel $ 500 x 4 = $ 2,000.00

Yesterday marked the two year anniversary since my mom's initial cancer diagnosis. While she has made tremendous strides since then (getting her liver completely cancer free to name one) she still has a tough journey ahead of her. Luckily she is a fighter, is one of the strongest women I know and is surrounded by an endless supply of love and support so she will continue to do whatever she can to kick cancer's ass once and for all. Thank you everyone and please continue to donate and share to everyone you know <3
(As always I am here for any questions.)

Hi Everyone,
It has been a while since my last update but a lot has been going on. With my last Ct scan I received conflicting information in the report which has required that I have a biopsy done as well as a second opinion on the CT scan (for better clarification). Because they put my chemo on hold until we get the results the treatments I have been receiving in Port Moody are vital. I will also be under the care of an oncologist in Vancouver( he feels what I have been doing so far is working) and will be getting my chemo treatments there as well temporarily but that will require me to stay in Port Moody for a number of weeks, rather then traveling back and forth.
All the support and well wishes I have been receiving has really lifted my spirits during this uncertain time.
Thank you all,
Judy

Hi Everyone,
Whew, it has been a bit of an exhausting few weeks for me. I have now completed 4 full rounds of chemo and 2 full weeks of the treatments at Port Moody Health. I want to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to get the treatments as I really feel they are working. One of my cancer marker tests has dropped 36 points Woo Hoo!!! I will be having a CT Scan this week and I am hoping to see positive results as well.
Thanks again
