BPU Calgary - The Food Security Fund
Black People United (BPU) is a collective of volunteers dedicated to caring for Calgary's Black community.
Launched in August 2020 and fueled by the global movement against anti-black racism, the collective was created to organize a mutual aid network for the Black community through the exchange of acts of care. Some of the activities so far have include a backpack drive to support families in need as children returned to school, a winter wear drive, grocery pick-up and delivery, and childcare services.
Funds raised through this event will tackle the food insecurity brought about by the pandemic, providing food hampers that will be distributed to black community members within Calgary.
