Face Masks for Manitoba is a Facebook group created in order to gather sew-ers, makers and crafters to make and donate cotton face masks to vulnerable individuals and their caretakers during the Covid19 pandemic.
The CDC advises that in times of crisis, where N95 masks are in short supply, homemade cotton masks can be used as an alternative. While not as effective as the N95, they can filter out 70% of particles. Providing these masks will offer much-needed protection for our most vulnerable people, as well as free up N95 masks for doctors and nurses dealing with the virus directly on the front lines.
Since starting the Facebook group in March, 2020, we have provided hundreds of masks to Manitobans in need. We ALWAYS provide them free of charge. We also provide people wanting to sew for us with all of the materials they need to make masks, ALSO free of charge. In order to keep up with high demand, we created this GoFundMe so that we can continue to offer these masks to as many people as possible.
If you would like to be a part of this movement, please consider donating. 100% of funds collected will be used to purchase fabric and materials to make masks. All masks are donated to people or organizations in need.
When something like this happens, it feels like we're on the sidelines watching and there's nothing we can do to make things better. THIS is something we can do. Do this with me.
If you would like to sew, or you need masks, please go to www.facemaskmb.com to fill out an order form.
Any help you can give is SO very much appreciated.
PS: If you sew, please join our Facebook group - I can get the fabrics and materials you need to you! Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/261386701532441/262757141395397/?comment_id=262878478049930&reply_comment_id=262914588046319¬if_id=1585210974864637¬if_t=group_comment_mention
