My practice involves a variety of mediums – illustration, graphic design, photo, video, and paint, to communicate the core concept of humanity and community - specifically to queer audiences. As an trans indigenous person I have spent much of my life feeling erased or lesser than, never enough of any one thing. I focus on communicating to folks who have ever felt 'othered' that YOU ARE NOT ALONE and you are LOVED. Recurring visual elements are bold colours, rich lines, and lots of portraiture – direct and indirectly.

This campaign is to fund a studio space for a year at Burnt Toast Studio. With this, I'll be able to access a facility with the tools I need to silkscreen print. Creating work this way was a large part of my practice when I had access to print facilities in post-secondary. Unfortunately, I have not had the financial means to make work this way since. Aside from the use of this medium to grow technically and conceptually as an artist, this will also function as a revenue stream for me by selling prints.
Ultimately, I want to be a trans indigenous voice that is heard. I want to be seen. I wish to have the resources to make work about this frustration of erasure - to make work that uplifts this incredible community I find myself in. I have so much love and adoration for the humans around me which is why I feel safe enough to be vulnerable and ask for help. Normally, I'm a stubborn goof who has to do everything by themselves, but this time I truly cannot. So I ask for any and all help to actualize this dream of having a studio space with the equipment I need. I know that now is a rough financial time and money is tight. In addition to donation - sharing is a huge huge huge huge help!
This amount of money is for:
STUDIO RENT $180 x 12 = $2160.00
FACILITY CERTIFICATION = $80.00
SUPPLIES (ink, paper, screens) = $250.00
GOFUNDME FEES = 1.9% + $0.30 per donation
(I rounded up to $2500 to help cover gofundme fees)
Donations of $50 you'll get a silkscreen print as a 'thank you' - a piece of art from a trans indigenous artist!
Although any and all donations are so so so incredibly appreciated! This is my first time reaching out to the community for help and it's scary but wow do I love you all so much!
