PRESCHOOLERS AREN'T MOVING
Due to COVID-19, a lack of physical and performing arts education, and an increasingly sedentary culture, young children have had their creative play stripped away.
Little children are spending up to 7 hours a day online. 65% of that viewing time is spent on YouTube where there are no creative dance channels designed specifically for that age group. Parents, caregivers, and educators are in desperate need of support and high quality and mindfully constructed content that gets their kids moving again...
A NEW WAY TO GET KIDS OFF THE COUCH: MOSI & MOO!
Our dream is to create an online channel for preschoolers called MOSI & MOO. This channel will emotionally engage and provide accessible creative dance instruction for all children globally, regardless of their means or abilities.
Children will twirl, jump and spin through make-believe stories and dance-games with Mosi, a loveable 4-year-old puppet. Together with Sarina, his dance teacher friend, and his singing cat named Moo, Mosi will encourage kids to use their newly learned movement skills to help him explore imaginary worlds and solve sticky situations.
MOSI & MOO programming will follow school curriculum guidelines and reinforce core values such as helpfulness, courage, and resilience. You could say that with Mosi, kids will think they are drinking a thick chocolate smoothie…but instead, it will be chock-a-block with nutritious broccoli.
Initially, we will focus on producing three types of high quality, professional programs which can be streamed on any platform at anytime:
- In MOSI & MOO'S DANCE ADVENTURES (5-6 minutes), children will jump from Sarina's studio through a magic dance mirror into a land of make believe where they will dance a dramatic story
- MOSI DANCE GAMES (3 minutes) will engage kids in fun, quick-paced dance challenges
- MOSI & MOO'S NURSERY RHYME DANCES (2 minutes) will features easy-to-learn movements to beloved nursery rhymes
OUR CREATIVE TEAM
We have mined the very best in our artistic community to create our production team. Sarina's hilarious son, Quentin Vitko, is the voice and magic behind Mosi the puppet.
Master puppeteer and abilities consultant Kirsten Sixt is the vocalist behind the adorable singing kitten named Moo who will bring classic nursery rhymes to life. TV producer and musical theatre veteran Jody Scotchmer is our director, and will be writing and producing MOSI & MOO with Sarina. Our videographer is the inventive Julian Peter.
TOGETHER, WE’RE GOING TO WORKSHOP THIS SERIES
It is urgent that we get MOSI & MOO programming into every household and school impacted by COVID.
We need to raise $71,514 by the beginning of January to professionally develop MOSI & MOO, shoot our beta programming, and get it up on our new website and YouTube channel.
We will workshop six original episodes of MOSI & MOO -- including the dance story, games and nursery rhyme songs -- starting in late January. Our vision is to develop a full slate of weekly programming!
