Each year, Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue accepts hundreds of sick, injured and orphaned animals. A critical piece of equipment is an ICU unit, or an incubator.
Incubators provide animals that aren't able to regulate their own body temperature a second chance at life. Without these vital pieces of equipment we will not be able to accept the overwhelming number of baby animals that need help.
Despite being only the start of April - all 6 of our ICU unites are filled with baby squirrels, bunnies and hatchling birds.
We understand that COVID has effected all of us, some in different ways.
As a wildlife rehabilitation center, we do not receive any government funding for the work we do. It is a free service offered to everyone in Ontario. We cover all of the expenses through our educational programs, fundraisers and events.
With the third lockdown in place, we have had to cancel our Baby Shower Fundraiser. This is the largest fundraiser that we run. It helps us with the expenses of running the wildlife center, like species specific food which is imported. It helps purchase medical equipment and pay veterinary bills.
We have also had to cancel all of our group workshops and wellness programs. Again, these funds are what support our ability to accept the sick, injured and orphaned animals.
Today we are asking the community to help support our need of purchasing a few more incubators. They cost $1700 USD each but are priceless to the lives they save.
If you are able, please consider donating to our wildlife center. Every animal deserves a second chance at life.
