Every year since we have timed out of McKnight hockey, we have played a scrimmage 2 times a year with all ex McKnight players to keep everyone in touch.
With the rinks opening up we wanted to get everyone back on the ice for another game. Except this time we thought we would do it differently with a charity game.
We spent some time trying to figure out which charity we would like to donate to, and we came up with the idea to help a McKnight family. With the harsh economic impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic, it has made it even more difficult for families to afford an already expensive sport.
We have already maxed out the 30 player limit that we are allowed on the ice, and all the players are going to donate to play in the game, the money we raise is going to a McKnight player who may not be able to afford the registration fees.
Both of us grew up playing in McKnight, and met second year novice. After timing out we continued to coach within the McKnight hockey association for the past 3 years.
We have always understood the importance of sport, and wanted to be able to provide a player with the opportunity to continue to play hockey, that otherwise wouldn’t be able to.
The game will be taking place at Thorncliffe Greenview Arena on July 25th.
How Can You Help?
- We will be collecting bottles on game day, no amount is too large or small.
- Come watch and bring a small donation. * PLEASE REMEMBER SOCIAL DISTANCING*
How will the money be used?
We are working with the McKnight Hockey Association to identify a family that would be in need of our support. The money will be used to pay for that child's registration.
