Sheena’s Start-up Fundraiser

One year ago, I got sober. That was an easy decision to make - but a bloody hard commitment to keep.

It took months of trial and error before I started to find resources and tools that actually made the journey any easier.  I did not want to commit to a religious or dogmatic realm just to find a community base - and I STRUGGLED.

The single most important, life changing and heart-busting resource was <<COMMUNITY>> people who got it, who were on the same journey, and who had to face their own version of a "new normal." Pandemic version of that idea be damned - Sobriety is a change that often leaves you feeling like a ghost in your own life.  It takes a lot of work - and a lot of being seen and heard - before you realize how bad-ass and powerful you can be in recovery.

I have found these resources online - the ONLY place we can have gatherings of like minded folks at the moment. But we won't be living through our screens forever.

There is a moment in the not-so-distant future where many people who have rewritten their story in social isolation will be stepping out in to the world that has only made room for Bar and Restaurant meetings. Or a world that has made new rules, that has made drinking in Parks legal, and normalized. These are the facts where I live.

When we are allowed to meet and greet freely - I want to be arranging and attending FUN - VIBRANT - dare I say, EXCITING ---SOBER GATHERINGS.

I want to organize and launch frequent occasions that you want to bring your best friend and roommates to. I want to have folks in all kinds of recovery roaming freely in the light of day, outside of church basement meetings. I want to expose all the JOY and FREEDOM that sobriety provides by throwing frequent kick-butt parties celebrating it!

Please consider donating to LIVING RECOVERY as we navigate the costs of brand building and legal support. As we build a model that we hope to bring to any town across North America.

We want to live recovery out loud and show folks how to destroy all the stigmas around addiction and mental health - by embracing the hell out of all the lessons and stories inside those experiences, and maybe taking them out dancing.

We are building a website, we are making social media spaces, we are planning for our first events as soon as it's legal and safe to do so in the Vancouver area.
