Ron Finley grew up in South Central LA, known to most of the news-watching world for gang violence. But Ron knew the problems with his neighborhood weren’t just in the streets but in the grocery stores, too. So Ron rolled up his sleeves, grabbed his shovel, and planted a food forest. Then, he started a GoFundMe to bring gardens to schools throughout LA. Ron was named February's GoFundMe Hero.
14-year-old Donovan and his mom lived in homeless shelters for over a year when he was 8. Eventually, they recovered, but they never forgot the kindness that they received. So when Donovan was in a position to give back, he decided to thank the organizations that helped them by donating proceeds from his soap business. He then started a GoFundMe to buy supplies and hire day laborers. Donovan was named February's GoFundMe Kid Hero.
The Berlin-based organization Each One Teach One raised money for a screening of the movie Black Panther for 120 kids of African descent to inspire them to reach for greatness.
